I have spent years searching for the right washing-up liquid made up of natural ingredients, which does not pollute water or irritate hands ... in vain.

Recently, I discovered that a simple traditional Marseille soap (the real big old-fashioned cube) could perfectly do the job, what a surprise! Not even need to waste time making a DIY washing liquid.

You rub a damp sponge on the soap, you rub your dishes and it degreases oily pans very well, even if the foam is less abundant than with a washing-up liquid.

We almost have the feeling that this good information remains secret, obviously it does not make their puffs to the industrialists.

So I think it is important to communicate this little trick that fits easily into our daily life and makes a big difference for the planet.

1 - It's cheaper

A large cube of Marseille soap will last several months, if you take care to leave it dry between each washing (exit the puddle at the bottom of the soap dish).

It costs between 5 and 10 chf, which corresponds to a bottle of dishwashing liquid with an eco-label, but it will certainly not last you several months!

2 - It's environmentally friendly

It goes without saying! Marseille soap is 100% biodegradable, so no trace of pollutants remaining in the water (unfortunately this is the case for most of the products we use).

Its composition is simple: water, sodium chloride (salt), soda and oil. It contains no perfume, dye or preservatives.

Purists will preferably choose a soap made from olive oil and not palm oil, obviously the price will be affected but also the quality, as well as the carbon footprint ... So remember to check its composition.

Second ecological effect and not the least : the reduction of packaging.

Imagine in just one year the number of plastic bottles that did not need to be manufactured (and transported, then recycled ... or not).

The big soaps of Marseille is often bought with a simple strip of cardboard around!

3 - It’s good for antique crockery

No danger for your most delicate dishes, it is a non-aggressive product that is also suitable for glass, crystal, silverware ...

4 - It’s better for your hands

For years, I had problems with dry hands, even irritated, (I must say I do not have a dishwasher) and since I switched to Marseille soap, it is much better (I even save on moisturizer).

5 - It’s more beautiful in the kitchen

The choice is quickly made between a horrible plastic bottle and the undeniable charm of Marseille soap that evokes Marcel Pagnol, the South, cicadas ... to perfect the natural decorative spirit, I recommend you to opt for a loofah sponge (super eco-friendly natural material that does not scratch, but personnaly I find it too stiff) and a copper scraper for more difficult cleaning.

All you have to do now is find a vintage soap dish !
