A lamp therefore constitutes a decorative object in its own right and must harmonize with the style of your interior whether it is classic, art deco, industrial, shabby chic or vintage. Often inspired by the shapes of nature, the big names in decoration and furniture publishing have created their own models of lighting which have shined through the ages, such as the famous Charles, Jansen, Baguès houses in the 20th century or again Murano, Baccarat, Poillerat for the oldest. Without looking for these signed models at often inaccessible prices, it is possible to find pretty decorative models at more attractive prices. The first electric lights appeared around 1880, but older objects are commonly mounted as lamps, for example vases, large tea boxes, old kerosene lamps, sculptures, gilded wood elements, etc. Rather than a single dazzling light fixture, it is better to favor several judiciously placed light sources, whose frosted glass lampshade or globe will avoid receiving unpleasant lighting directly in the eyes. The materials for old lighting fixtures are numerous; the simplest lamps were often made of brass, regula, earthenware or wrought iron. The more elaborate and luxurious lamp models favor gilded wood, bronze, crystal, or opaline and can be decorated with decorative crystal or glass paste pendants.

Wall lights in carved wood, wrought iron, brass or bronze are always an option that saves space in a small space where there is not enough furniture to place a lamp. 

To preserve the charm of the old, we advise you to prefer electrification with a wire covered in fabric, the numerous existing wire colors will allow you to choose those which will best match your decoration with complete discretion. Our lamps being old and sold as is, a review of the electrification is necessary before putting it into service, this will be the opportunity to choose for yourself the lampshade and the type of switch that suits you the best. Consider foot switches which can be very practical.
