A rare travel tea set for two, housed in a small wooden box covered in black leather with a green velvet interior. A two-part opening closes with a Chinese-inspired brass hook.
Late 19th century English work by Leuchars & Son on Piccadilly, bound for their Parisian store on Rue de la Paix.
Leuchars & Son, renowned for the manufacture of bespoke travel cases and trunks, was granted a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria in 1837 and won medals at several World's Fairs. The company ceased trading in the early 20th century.
Box dimensions 30 X 16 cm - height 20 cm
The interior is composed of:
- 2 Royal Worcester porcelain cups and saucers in blue decor (one cup has a crack in the bottom)
- A silver-plated teapot marked Leuchars & Son Paris Geffroy succ with serial number.
- a small silver-plated milk jug
- a silver-plated metal box with 2 compartments for tea and sugar
- a stove with its silver metal tripod
- a sugar tong and 2 small silver spoons
Everything you need is perfectly arranged in compartments adapted to each object.
Overall Condition: The box is in good condition but with some tears in the leather.
Some wear to the silver plating on the milk jug and teapot lid.
A cup is cracked.
The whole thing is in usable condition, I would nevertheless advise having hot water in a thermos because using the stove can take a long time to heat the whole kettle, or even impossible in a windy place.
Antique objects bearing the natural traces of time.
